Etymology

Likely related to the "Turkic" "reciprocal/cooperative" suffix "-š-" which was compared as early as 1912 with "reciprocal/cooperative" Mongolian suffix "-ča-/-če-" by Ramstedt.[1]

Suffix

-yiş

Postvocalic suffix appended to verbal stems in harmony with stems' lastest vowels ə, e or i to form verbal stems with a meaning of reciprocal action, force or contact.[2]
‎demək + ‎-yiş → ‎deyişmək
