Tinea cirrhoceros is een vlinder uit de familie van de echte motten (Tineidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd in 1955 gepubliceerd door Alexey Diakonoff.[1] De typelocatie is Rattan Camp, Nieuw-Guinea.
