Shere Hite

Shere Hite (Saint Joseph (Missouri), 2 november 1942) is een in Amerika geboren Duitse[1] seksvoorlichtster en feministe. Haar seksuologisch werk richtte zich op vrouwelijke seksualiteit. Hite bouwt op biologische studies van seks door Masters en Johnson en van Alfred Kinsey. Ze verwijst ook naar theoretische, politieke en psychologische werken over de feministische beweging in de zeventiger jaren, zoals Anne Koedts The Myth of the Vaginal Orgasm. Na aanvallen op haarzelf en haar werk gaf ze haar Amerikaans staatsburgerschap in 1995 op om Duitse te worden.[2]
