De club werd in 1920 opgericht maar werd later ontbonden. Op 21 mei 1945 werd de club heropgericht als TS Polonia Bytom. De club werd twee keer kampioen van Polen: in 1954 en in 1962.
Sinds de degradatie in 2011 speelde Polonia in de Poolse I liga. De club speelt anno 2019 in de III liga, de op drie na hoogste voetbaldivisie van Polen.
