Mythenteles asiatica is een vliegensoort uit de familie van de Mythicomyiidae.[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1981 door Evenhuis, oorspronkelijk geplaatst in het geslacht Mythicomyia.
