Het dier behoort tot het geslacht Euophrys. De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1891 door James Henry Emerton. Ze is vernoemd naar de vindplaats, Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire.[2]
