Daniel Boone bracht onder de in 1958 aangenomen artiestennaam Peter Lee Stirling van 1963 tot 1970 talrijke singles uit. In 1971 koos hij de artiestennaam Daniel Boone (naar de Amerikaanse pionier Daniel Boone) en had hij in de eerste helft van de jaren 70 enkele internationale single-successen.
Boone's grootste hits bij het label Penny Farthing waren Daddy Don't You Walk so Fast (1971) en Beautiful Sunday (1972), dat een nummer 1-hit werd in Duitsland. Met Annabelle (1972), Sunshine Lover (1973) en Skydiver (1973) volgden nog drie kleinere hits in de Duitse charts.
Als componist en producent ontfermde hij zich over het kinderduo The James Boys, die met zijn song Over and Over een waarderingssucces in enkele Europese hitparaden konden scoren.
