Synthese

Cholinechloride wordt in een laboratorium bereid door methylering van dimethylethanolamine met methylchloride.

Toepassingen

Cholinechloride wordt gebruikt als additief in dierenvoer, voornamelijk bij kippenvoer, om de groei te stimuleren. Het vormt met ureum een eutectische ionaire oplossing.
