Charlie Byrd
Charlie Byrd (Suffolk (Virginia), 16 september 1925 - Annapolis (Maryland), 2 december 1999), geboren als Charles L. Byrd, was een Amerikaanse jazzgitarist Hij studeerde klassieke gitaar bij Sophocles Papas en Andrés Segovia.
Tijdens een concerttour in Europa ontmoette hij Django Reinhardt. Door deze ontmoeting was Byrd zo onder de indruk dat hij besloot zich te wijden aan jazz.
Charlie Byrd componeerde 'Three blues for classical guitar' in de late jaren 50 en droeg het werk op aan drie vrienden. De drie stukjes zijn traditionele blues, elk met een eigen karakter.
