Een doorsnee arabica koffieboon bevat ongeveer 0,6% cafestol over het hele gewicht.
Cafestol is in grote hoeveelheden aanwezig in ongefilterde koffiesoorten zoals Turkse koffie. In filterkoffie is cafestol slechts in geringe hoeveelheid aanwezig.
