Geschiedenis
Boone County werd 16 november 1820 opgericht als een opgesplitst deel van Howard County. Het gebied stond bekend onder de naam "Boone's Like County", gezien de aanwezige zoutbron die door zowel mensen als dieren werd gebruikt.
