Tussen 1996 en 1998 trainde hij bij de Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), waar hij 3 nationale titels won. In november 2003 tekende Lashley een contract bij de WWE. Hij werd 1 keer ECW Champion nadat hij zijn 5 tegenstanders voor de titel in een Extreme Elimination Chamber had verslagen, waaronder de gigant Big Show en kung-fu kunstenaar Rob Van Dam op 3 december 2006.

In 2018 maakt Lashley zijn terugkeer naar de WWE.
