Alistair Cameron Crombie

Alistair Cameron Crombie (Brisbane, Australië 4 november 1915 – 9 februari 1996) was een Australische wetenschapshistoricus, die naam maakte met het boek Augustine to Galileo: The History of Science A.D. 400 - 1650 uit 1952.[1]

Crombie studeerde aan de universiteit in Melbourne en Cambridge. Hij begon zijn carrière als zoöloog aan de Universiteit van Melborne. In 1953 kreeg hij een aanstelling als professor aan de Universiteit van Oxford, waar hij wetenschapsgeschiedenis doceerde. Onder zijn bewind werd het vak wetenschapsgeschiedenis een officieel studie aan Oxford

Een van zijn studenten was de David M. Knight (1936), hoogleraar wetenschapsgeschiedenis en wetenschapsfilosofie aan de Universiteit van Durhum.
