Wie is de Mol? (Dutch season 13)

The thirteenth season of the Dutch TV series Wie is de Mol? ("Who is the Mole?") aired in the winter of 2013. Season 11 winner, Art Rooijakkers returned to host for his second season. The season took place in South Africa, marking the first time the series has filmed in an African country. The season premiered on January 3, 2013. The Reunion aired on March 7, 2013 where Paulien Cornelisse was declared the winner of the season, earning a grand total of €17,120.-. Cornelisse, alongside her runner-up Carolien Borgers, had successfully unmasked Kees Tol as the Mole of 2013.

Format

Followed the same format as its Belgian predecessor, ten Dutch celebrities travel to South Africa to complete Assignments to earn money for the group pot. However, one of the ten is the titular Mole (de Mol), the one designated to sabotage the assignments and cause the group to earn the least amount of money for the winner's pot as possible. Every few days, players would take a 20-question multiple choice test about the identity of the Mole. Once the test is complete, the candidates await their results in an Execution ceremony. The candidate with the worst score is executed from the game, while in the event of the tie the candidate who completed their test the slowest is executed. The season plays out until there are three remaining candidates, where they must complete a final test (consisting of 40 questions). The candidate with the highest score, or had completed their test the fastest in a tie, is declared the winner and receives the group's pot.[1]

Notes
  1. At the Execution Ceremony, each of the candidates were given an opportunity to select a Green or Red card in Art's possession. If the candidate chose a Green card, they would prevent another candidate from seeing their results. If the candidate chose a Red card, they had to select a non-exempt candidate to see their results. Tania was the only one to chose a Red card and selected Kees to see his results. His screen turned Green, therefore everyone proceeded to the next episode.
  2. The candidates were escorted from the Execution Ceremony one by one after they had received a Green Screen. Tim as the last candidate remaining was shown a Red Screen but was informed of an opportunity to return to the game in the next assignment. The group freed Tim during the assignment, thus bringing him back into the game.
  3. During an assignment, the Candidates were tasked to jump off a cliff into a dam to earn money and Jokers. When it was Janine's turn to jump, the impact from the water shattered a vertebra in her spine causing for an immediate medical evacuation. Her injury forced her out of the game, but she refused for the production to stop early because of her misfortunate fall.

  2. Tim was given an opportunity to return to the game in the next episode. The candidates chose to free him during the first assignment, thus bringing him back into the game.
  3. No one was eliminated due to an assignment.
  4. No one got eliminated because the remaining contestants were the finalists of the season.
  5. During the final assignment, Kees made a deal with the bartender by providing him folded money from the group's pot to give to all of the finalists if they give an incorrect answer. He revealed this deception at the reunion where all the unfolded notes were correct answers. Thus reducing the pot from what was expected to be €18,870 down to €17,120.
