History

It was dedicated in honor of Bessie B West.

For many years West has been teamed up with Marlatt Hall for most campus activities including homecoming events. This pairing won the overall homecoming award in 2003 and 2004. In 2005 it was decided to switch to Haymaker Hall.

The Hall had several traditions. Of these traditions, the most well known was the "Marlatt-West Casino Night." This event started in 1984 and had taken place in the Student Union annually for twenty-one years through 2005.
