Warri South

Warri South is a Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the city of Warri.

It has an important sea port in the country and is the commercial nerve centre of the state, With Dr. Tidi Michael as the current local government chairman. [1] The area is predominantly riverine with large expanses of mangrove forests and has a land area of approximately 1,520 square kilometres. It harbors many industrial establishments including all the major oil companies operating in Nigeria and it is home to the two ethnic groups namely; the Urhobo and Itsekiris People. The Urhobo being the predominant ethnic group of the area. [2]

It has an area of 633 kmĀ² and a population of 303,417 at the 2006 census.
