WSOY-FM (102.9 FM) is a Top 40 (CHR) radio station licensed to Decatur, Illinois. This station is called "Y103". The callsign is from its sister station, WSOY (AM), a reference to Decatur's role in the soybean industry.[4]

History

WSOY-FM first received a construction permit on October 7, 1946, designating its frequency as 98.7 MHz, and later as 102.1 MHz, and received its full license on February 2, 1949, at 31.2 kilowatts, also on 102.1 MHz.[3] The switch to 102.9 MHz received a construction permit in August 1959 and license on May 31, 1960. The increase to 54 kilowatts received its construction permit in May 1961 and license on September 7, 1961.[3]

The station was mostly automated formats in the 1960s and 1970s: first a country format, and afterwards beautiful music.[5]

WSOY-FM adopted rock-and-roll formats and name "Y-103" in the early 1980s, but remained on automation until 2000.[5]
