WSB Universities

WSB Universities also WSB University (Polish: Wyższe Szkoły Bankowe, Wyższa Szkoła Bankowa) is group of state-recognized private universities in Poland. WSB Universities is the largest group of business schools in Poland, with campuses in ten Polish cities.[2][3][4] In 2013 - 82% and in 2014, 85% of students of WSB Universities were studying and at the same time working, gaining work experience and professional competence.[5]

Founded in 1994 by TEB Akademia (en. TEB Academy).[6] In 10 August 1994, WSB launched its first field of study – "finance and banking".[7][8] The WSB Universities offers higher education and research facilities. They offer undergraduate education (licentiate),[9] engineer's education,[9] magister/master's education,[10] postgraduate education[11] including Master of Business Administration (MBA)[12] and doctorate's education.[13]

WSB University is a test center of Educational Testing Service (ETS), university-organized, internationally recognized TOEIC test (Test of English for International Communication).[14]

Some specialties are co-financed from the European Union, thanks to which tuition is reduced to several dozen percent. Co-financing includes licentiate and engineer's studies: Design in business - two specialties (Bydgoszcz, Toruń), IT in business - two specializations (Bydgoszcz, Toruń), management engineering - four specializations (Bydgoszcz, Toruń), IT - eight specialties (Gdańsk, Gdynia), logistics - seven specialties (Gdańsk, Gdynia), tourism and recreation - four specialties (Toruń) [23]. On the second-cycle studies: Logistics - three specialties (Gdańsk) and Management - two specialties (Chorzów).[33] On the magister / master's studies: Logistics - three specialties (Gdańsk) and Management - two specialties (Chorzów).[35]

WSB Universities also offers studies in English language. In 2009, the university began offering its MBA at the Franklin University in Ohio, United States.[45][46]

Rankings

In ranking of Private Masters Degree Universities 2015 published by Perspektywy and Rzeczpospolita, WSB in Poznań ranked 15th, WSB in Wrocław ranked 18th, WSB in Gdańsk ranked 26th, WSB in Toruń in 30th place.[47]

In ranking of Top Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs in Poland in 2016, WSB in Poznań with the Aalto Executive MBA program ranked 8th, WSB in Wrocław with the Franklin University MBA program (FUMBA) ranked 9th, WSB in Gdańsk ranked 14th, WSB in Toruń ranked 20th place.[48]

WSB Universities was listed in various rankings by Wprost.[49] In the general ranking of universities in 2015, WSB in Poznań ranked 19th, taking the place between SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.[49] Among 10 private universities most esteemed by employers, WSB in Poznań ranked in 3rd place.[49] Among universities offering the fields of economics, finance, accounting and also management and marketing, WSB in Poznań ranked 8th in Poland.[49]

Curiosity

"WSB" is abbreviation of "Wyższa Szkoła Bankowa" which means in English "Higher School of Banking" or "Greater School of Banking" (like French Grandes écoles).
