Vigor (video game)

Vigor is a free-to-play online looter shooter game by Bohemia Interactive originally developed for the Xbox One. It is coming soon to Nintendo Switch. Initially released as an early access title in August 2018, the game fully released on August 19, 2019.

Gameplay

Vigor is an online looter shooter game set in post-apocalyptic Norway. The goal is to stay alive and build a shelter that will protect the player against the harsh environment. Players called Outlanders have to seek resources and better equipment. From Season 3 the Outlanders can enjoy multiple different game modes - such as Shootout or Elimination. [2][3]

Development

Bohemia Interactive announced Vigor on 11 June 2018 during E3.[4][5] The game launched in Xbox Preview on 31 July 2018.[6][6]

It was in the Xbox Preview up to the August 19, 2019. That day Vigor was released as a free-to-play title on Gamescom - it was featured in the Inside Xbox Show.

The Nintendo Switch version was announced in the Nintedo Direct Mini on March 26th.

The Closed Beta ran from April 9th to April 16th.

Seasons

Season 1: Preppers

Released December 11, 2019

Reveal the Preppers, who are always ready for war and humanity to fall. Progress in the first Battle Pass season to become the skilled Prepper! Learn how to use handy tools to your advantage. Donate food and get a reward in the expanded Charity Box. Obtain weapons and consumables faster with new Crafting Boosters.

Season 2: Hunters

Released February 5, 2020

Seek the Hunters, rulers of the wilderness. Chart the Hunter's path with the Battle Pass. Adopt skills to lay new tools, operate the crossbow, or pursue the quarry. Prepare for the hunt, Outlander!

The Hunters are rulers of the wilderness. They dominate with powerful crossbows and sneaky tools. The ability to blend into the Outlands drives them to pursue the precious loot.

Season 3: Rivals

Released April 8, 2020

Confront the Rivals, the renegades of society. Burst into conflict with the Battle Pass, riddle your opponents in the new game event called Shootout, experience silenced weapons, and finally hide behind a mask. Strike equipped with handy consumables and improved weapon stats!

The Rivals are the renegades of society. They hide behind flashy masks, and are even more dangerous when wielding silenced weapons. Shootout is their main focus. Iodine and caffeine help them outlive their enemies.

Season 4: Warlords

Released June 17, 2020

Clash with Warlords, the leaders of Elimination. Team up with other Outlanders in a brand-new 5 vs. 5 game mode, and dominate the Outlands. Make sure to blend in with facepaints. Explore the deadly mortar strike and wily jammer. Master the new weapons and make them shine in the packed armory cellar. Light up your Shelter with a new collection of lighter mementos. Change the game using the reworked comm station!

The Warlords are the leaders of Elimination. They blend in using facepaints, calling in the deadly mortar strike. The jammer allows them to hoodwink their enemies. The new weapons complete their collection in the packed armory cellar.

Reception

The game was played by more than 700,000 players during Early access.[7] After the game was released it became one of TOP 20 most played Xbox One titles as it was played by over 1,200,000 players.[8]

More than 4 500 000 Outlenders hopped in the picturesque (but deadly) post-war Norway.
