Victoria Spartz

Victoria Spartz is a Ukrainian-American politician and businesswoman serving as a member of the Indiana Senate from the 20th District.[2] She was appointed to the seat after Luke Kenley resigned.[3] In June 2020, Spartz became the Republican nominee for Indiana's 5th congressional district in the 2020 House of Representatives elections.

Early life and education

Spartz was born and raised in Ukraine, but immigrated to the United States in 2000 and became a U.S. citizen in 2006.[4][5][6][7] Before moving to the United States, Spartz earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from the Kyiv National Economic University. She earned a Master of Accountancy from the Kelley School of Business of Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis.[8]

Career

Prior to her appointment to the Indiana Senate, she served as CFO for the office of Indiana Attorney General.[9] She was also an adjunct faculty at the Kelley School of Business in Indianapolis and a Big 4 auditor.[10] She owns real estate and farming businesses.[11]

Spartz was a candidate for Indiana's 5th congressional district in the 2020 House of Representatives elections, a seat being vacated by Susan Brooks, who announced her retirement in June 2019. Spartz won the Republican primary on June 2, 2020, and will face former member of the Indiana House of Representatives, Christina Hale.[12]
