History

It began as the School of Angers in the 11th century and became a university in 1337.[1]

In 1432, the Faculties of Medicine, Arts, and Theology were added to the Faculty of Law.[2]

The university was closed in 1793 during the French Revolution, and in 1971 a successor was established with little ties to the past institutions.[3]
