History

Unión Deportiva Logroñés was founded in 2009 after the extinction of CD Logroñés,[2] occupying the seat of CD Varea.[3] It started competing in Segunda División B.

The second team, UD Logroñés B, finished the regional championships in third position in the same season (2009–10), thus promoting to Tercera División.[4] UD Logroñés reached 5th place in the 2011-12 season in the third division of Spanish football.[5]

In 2016 the club made a 3-year collaboration agreement with SD Eibar, with their players going on loan to Logroñés for experience with the aim of achieving promotion due the additional talent in the squad.[6] Being in Segunda División B, UD Logroñés finished 6th in the 2016-17 season.[7] One of the first to make the move was goalkeeper Jon Ander. In the next 2017-18 season the club finished 7th in the Segunda División B, Group 2.[8] In the 2018-19 season the club finished 2nd in Segunda División B. It is the best result in club's history.[9]
