Tyrese Maxey

Tyrese Maxey (born November 4, 2000) is an American college basketball player for the Kentucky Wildcats of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Maxey played high school basketball for South Garland High School in Garland, Texas.

Recruiting

On May 9, 2018, Maxey committed to play college basketball at the University of Kentucky over Southern Methodist University.[1]

    College career

    In Maxey's collegiate debut for Kentucky, he scored 26 points in a 69–62 win over first-ranked Michigan State.[2] He had a career-high 27 points in a 78–70 overtime win over rival Louisville on December 28.[3] At the conclusion of the regular season, Maxey was named to the Second Team All-SEC and the All-Freshman Team.[4] Maxey averaged 14 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.[5] Following the season, Maxey declared for the 2020 NBA draft.[6]

    National team career

    Maxey played for the United States under-18 basketball team at the 2018 FIBA Under-18 Americas Championship. He helped his team win the gold medal.[7]

    Personal life

    Maxey's dad Tyrone was the Director of Recruiting for the SMU Mustangs men's basketball team for the 2017–18 season.[8][9]
