The Weekend News (Philippine TV program)

ABS-CBN Weekend News is a Philippine weekend newscast television program, and later the first Filipino-language weekend newscast of ABS-CBN. The newscast aired every Saturday and Sunday from July 1, 1995 to May 3, 2004. It was produced by ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs.

History

When the newscast first aired in July 1, 1995 as The Weekend News replacing the weekend edition of The World Tonight, it first used English as its primary language. The World Tonight ended on ABS-CBN and The Weekend News made its final English broadcast on August 12, 2001, two days after The World Tonight's ending due to low ratings on English late-night newscasts. The Weekend News switched to Filipino on August 18, 2001. It was relaunched as ABS-CBN Weekend News on August 18, 2001 as part of the network's major programming changes. The newscasts launched TV Patrol Sabado and Linggo on May 9, 2004. and by the newscast ended on December 31, 2005.
