It is the only daily serving Wayne County, Pennsylvania. It was founded as a semiweekly publication in 1878.[1]
In addition to its daily product, The Wayne Independent produces three weekly newspapers serving nearby communities:
- Carbondale News of Carbondale, Pennsylvania a weekly
- The News Eagle of Hawley, Pennsylvania a bi-weekly
- The Villager of Moscow, Pennsylvania a weekly
The weeklies "Carbondale News" and "The Villager" share a publisher and executive editor with The Independent'". All three are based in the Honesdale office. "The News Eagle" shares the same publisher but has its own executive editor, Peter Becker and its own office in Hawley, Pennsylvania.
