Storyline

This series is a behind-the-scenes glance which takes a look at the Australian men's team's fall from grace and being forced to retain its legacy, title and integrity. The series begins with the biggest ever ball-tampering scandal in decades, which rocked Australian cricket. It all started during the third test match on Day 4 against South Africa on 24 March 2018 at Cape Town where Australian opener Cameron Bancroft was seen tampering with the conditions of the ball by using sandpaper. During the course, Steve Smith was the captain of the national team while David Warner served as his deputy. Both knew that Bancroft was doing something illegal and allowed him to do so and also deliberately hidden it without disclosing it to the umpires. They were slapped with a ban for a minimum of a year by Cricket Australia. Immediately, the then head coach of the national team Darren Lehmann stepped down from his role and Tim Paine replaced Steve Smith as the new skipper of the national team.[5]

Despite the odds, the sequence of events ends up with the promise of a better future under the leadership of Tim Paine who also introduced ethical code of conduct within the Australian setup and also introduced the method of shaking hands before the commencement of a match. The series also includes Aaron Finch's turnaround, UAE spark, Paine-Kohli duel, Smith-Archer lockdown, Ben Stokes heroics and Australia's retention of the Ashes urn in 2019.[6][7]
