The Simple Image

The Simple Image was a New Zealand rock band, particularly popular in the 1960s. They achieved four top ten hits including a chart topper with the song, "Spinning, Spinning, Spinning".[1] Original Members were Barry Leef, Guitar & Lead Vocals. Ron (Cass) Gascoigne, Bass Guitar & Vocals. Harry Leki, Lead Guitar & Vocals. Gordon Wylie, Drums. There was a line-up change in the late 60s bringing in Doug Smith, (Lead Vocals) & Bruce Walker, Keyboards & Vocals. The band moved to Australia in July 1969 & after a short stint at "Lucifers" nite club, Took up Residency at The Whiskey A Go Go in Kings Cross Sydney. Original drummer left & was replaced by Wayne (Biggie Rat) Allen from Christchurch NZ. & Doug Smith was replaced by original lead Vocalist Barry Leef. After 20 months the members went their own way.
