The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin is the seventh album released by Kirk Franklin. The U.S. release on GospoCentric Records and Arista Records occurred on February 19, 2002 (2002-02-19). The album was recorded live on June 16, 2000 at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. It was intended to be released sometime in mid-June or early July 2001, then pushed to September 5, 2001 due to needing more time since the live recording didn't have all the songs that would be on the final album, then pushed to September 25, 2001, then due to 9/11 pushed to October 30, 2001 in order to record "911" with Bishop T.D. Jakes and Scene 23, which was recorded September 24, 2001. However, "911" caused the album to be pushed back to December 25, 2001, which was later pushed to May 21, 2002 but on December 17, 2001 moved up to February 19, 2002.[2]
