The Lot (album)
The Lot (stylized as the lot) is a compilation album by Queen drummer Roger Taylor. The album contains nearly all of his solo work, both with The Cross and by himself.[1] Originally scheduled to be released on October 11, 2013,[2] this was pushed back to November 11, 2013, in conjunction with Fun on Earth.[3][4] Many fans quickly complained about issues with the album. Taylor and his manufacturing team attempted to solve the problem by asking fans to send in problematic copies.[5] The album was re-released on November 10, 2014.[6][7]

Background
Apart from Queen, Taylor released five albums on his own and three with the Cross. Taylor released his first single in 1977, "(I Wanna) Testify", then released two solo albums over the next several years, Fun in Space (1981) and Strange Frontier (1984).[8] These two albums were met with little to moderate success at the time, although this did not stop Taylor from releasing more solo work.
Two years after Strange Frontier, in 1986, Taylor formed the Cross, which he led, with Spike Edney, Clayton Moss, Peter Noone, and Josh Macrae.[9] The Cross went on to release three albums: Shove It, Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know, and Blue Rock. The Cross broke up in 1993,[9] after which Taylor recorded and released Happiness?, his third solo album. This album brought some controversy to Taylor due to the track "Nazis 1994".[10] However, this likely only increased album sales. In 1998, Taylor released Electric Fire,[11] his last album to be released until Fun on Earth on November 11, 2013, 15 years later.[12]
All of this material was included on The Lot, a 13-disc box set released on the same day as Fun on Earth. Taylor also added several non-album singles to the box set, such as "Manipulator" and different mixes for other songs. However, the first issue of the album had several issues. These included typographical errors in the lyrics, incorrect mixes of certain songs being provided, and several other audio issues.[13] Consumers were asked to return the faulty copies to Universal Records to receive correct pressings.[5] The box set presents Taylor's albums in chronological order for discs one through eight, with discs nine through twelve used for various singles. The final disc is a DVD used for various videos of his songs.
Taylor himself liked how The Lot provided a good look back over his career, saying the following about the album: "It's very satisfying to get it all in one place. I didn't realise how much there was: eight CDs, videos, lots of singles. I’d forgotten a lot. But it's very satisfying".[14]
