The EP contained their biggest hit, a cover of the Strangeloves' "I Want Candy". The Last of the Mohicans peaked at No. 67 on the Billboard 200, their highest entry on the chart.[3]

The cover photograph, taken by Andy Earl, was Bow Wow Wow's recreation of Le déjeuner sur l'herbe by Édouard Manet, which caused outrage when it first appeared as the cover of See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang Yeah, City All Over! Go Ape Crazy!.[4]
