Tamás Kenderesi

In 2014 he won a gold medal in the 200 meter butterfly on the European Junior Swimming Championships, in Dordrecht.[4] Later in 2014, Kenderesi swam at the Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. He placed 7th in the 100 meter butterfly and he won the 200 meter butterfly.[5]

Kenderesi missed the 2015 World Aquatics Championships due to illness and he had to miss 3 months of practicing.[6] Later the same year he swam at the European Short Course Championships which took place in Netanya, Israel, where he got 35th in the 100 meter butterfly[7] and 9th in the 200 meter butterfly.[8]

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he qualified in first place for the semifinals in the 200 m butterfly,[9] in which he qualified first for the final with a time of 1:53.96. He won the bronze medal with a time of 1:53.62.

In 2017 Kenderesi qualified for the 17th FINA World Championships, in Budapest where he placed 4th in the 200 meter butterfly.[10] In December 2017 he won a bronze medal at the European Short Course Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark in the 200 meter butterfly.[11]

Kenderesi was widely publicized in an incident that involved allegations of official sexual misconduct. He was banned from leaving South Korea, after being arrested for sexual harassment incurring public moral outrage. Kenderesi may receive a verbal or written warning from the Swimming Association or his sanctions may even include a fine or cancellation of benefits, but they can ban the swimmer from competitions and training camps as well.
