Tāhunanui

Tāhunanui is one of the suburbs of Nelson, New Zealand. It lies between Port Nelson and Nelson Airport and is the site of the main beach for Nelson with a shoreline on the Tasman Bay.[1]

The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "large sandbank" for Tāhunanui.[2]

Demographics

Tahunanui had a population of 2,100 at the 2013 New Zealand census, an increase of 99 people since the 2006 census. There were 1,041 males and 1,059 females.[3] 86.8% were European/Pākehā, 15.4% were Māori, 2.1% were Pacific peoples and 4.9% were Asian.[4]
