Tachyphonus
Tachyphonus is a genus of birds in the tanager family Thraupidae.

The genus was introduced by the French ornithologist Louis Pierre Vieillot in 1816 with the white-lined tanager as the type species.[1][2] The name combines the Ancient Greek words takhus "fast" and phōneō "to speak".[3]
The genus includes eight species:[4]
- Flame-crested tanager, Tachyphonus cristatus
- Yellow-crested tanager, Tachyphonus rufiventer
- Fulvous-crested tanager, Tachyphonus surinamus
- White-shouldered tanager, Tachyphonus luctuosus
- Tawny-crested tanager, Tachyphonus delatrii
- Ruby-crowned tanager, Tachyphonus coronatus
- White-lined tanager, Tachyphonus rufus
- Red-shouldered tanager, Tachyphonus phoenicius
