Sydenham Falls

Sydenham Falls is a 15-metre-high (49 ft) ribbon waterfall near the Spencer Gorge / Webster's Falls Conservation Area in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.[1]

The three Sydenham waterfalls, Sydenham Falls, Middle Sydenham Falls and Lower Sydenham Falls, are found on Sydenham Creek close to Sydenham Road. All three waterfalls are on private property. They are named after Baron Charles E.P.T. Sydenham, Governor-General of Upper Canada from 1839 to 1841.[2]

Lower Sydenham Falls is a 3-metre-high (9.8 ft) and 4-metre-wide (13 ft) classical waterfall. Middle Sydenham Falls is a 5-metre-high (16 ft) and 5-metre-wide (16 ft) classical waterfall. Both of these waterfalls are seasonal and best viewed in the springtime.[3]

Nearby attractions include Webster's Falls, Tew's Falls, Bruce Trail and Rock Chapel in Dundas.[4]

Directions

From Highway 403 travel west on Main Street West for 3 km; it will become Osler Drive. Proceed to King Street in downtown Dundas. Turn left on King Street. At next light turn right on Sydenham Road travel for 500 meters until you see an overhead railway bridge. Park your car on the street and look for Bruce Trail markers ascending the escarpment.[5]
