Subdivisions of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has many levels of administrative subdivisions:

  • First-level (13 entities): regions[1] or provinces
  • Second-level (118 entities):
    • governorates[2] (Arabic: محافظات; muhafazat, sing. muhafazah)
    • Amanah the capital of each region
  • Third-level: marakiz, sing. markaz
