Strange and Beautiful (Crimson Glory album)

Strange and Beautiful is the third studio album from progressive metal band Crimson Glory. Initially released in 1991, it was the first album without guitarist Ben Jackson and drummer Dana Burnell, and the last with vocalist Midnight. The record was also their first, and last, for their new label, Atlantic Records. Two songs were co-written by Marcy Rauer Wagman,[2] an Associate Professor and former Program Director of the B.S. in Music Industry major at Drexel University while the first single "The Chant" was written by outside songwriters Brian McKinley & Marti Frederiksen. The band went on hiatus following the supporting tour during which future Michael Schenker Group frontman David Van Landing replaced Midnight. Although this was the only Crimson Glory album with drummer Ravi Jakhotia, it marked the first of three projects that he played in with guitarist Jon Drenning and bassist Jeff Lords as a quartet. Jon Drenning moved the band to Phoenix, Az., where they would form Crush with Billy Martinez (who later reportedly co-wrote a plurality of the lyrics to Crimson Glory's fourth album Astronomica[3]) on vocals, followed by Erotic Liquid Culture, fronted by former touring vocalist David Van Landing. Each group would release one self-titled album each before disbanding.[4][5]
