Academics
The school is a voluntary aided comprehensive school.
There are currently a wide ranch of subjects to choose from once a pupil reaches the end of Year 8. These include History, Modern Languages, Art, Drama, Geography, Health and Social Care and Leisure and Tourism. Pupils will choose three subjects to follow their core courses (English, Maths, Science, ICT, RE, MFL (Modern Foreign Language)).
The school has ended the use of the housing system, converting to a plain blue tie for all students, while the school prefects wear a grey tie, leaving the only separation are forms and year groups.
Facilities
The school has a wide range of facilities available to the pupils including three computer rooms with the latest technology for GCSE studies.
A recent art gallery is available allowing pupils the option post their work on a professional art board for visitors to see.
There is a male, female and an unaccessable disabled toilet. Though if students need to use the toilet during lesson time, they can not. There has been cases of urination on the floor and more.
