St. Ambroise Beach Provincial Park

St. Ambroise Beach Campground is located on the southern shores of lake Manitoba in the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie. This campground offers 122 sites (93 basic, 22 electrical sites and 7 seasonal) perfect for wilderness adventures. There are several picnic areas and a playground located within the park. Sand islets scattered off the shore. All vehicles must display a park vehicle permit while in the park which are valid in all Manitoba Provincial Parks

As a result of extreme flooding in the 2011 Spring, the campground facility was closed. However, in July 2013 the day-use areas at St. Ambroise Beach Provincial Park were able to be re-opened.[1][2]

Sioux Pass Marsh Boardwalk

For an added adventure, the Sioux Pass Marsh boardwalk is nearby and hikers can experience the scenic wetland first hand. There is a viewing tower for a bird's-eye view of the park. Birds are plentiful in the park, ranging from warblers to geese, to pelicans. Songs of catbirds, American goldfinches and yellow-headed blackbirds can be heard. St. Ambroise is also home to the endangered piping plover.

Beaches

St. Ambroise beach is unsupervised. There is a public beach in the day use area and a more private swimming area adjacent to the campsites.

The beach faces mostly west, providing the opportunity to view spectacular sunsets over the water.

Facilities

The day-use beach features washroom and changing facilities. There is no place in the park to buy snacks or supplies, however the nearby town of St. Ambroise has a general store and liquor vendor.
