Background and release

Production of the album was completed in a span of nine weeks whilst isolating at home in Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. During this time, Example wrote and produced nine new songs and reworked, mixed and mastered six demos recorded between 2017 and 2019.[1]

The album was preceded by three singles. The first was "Paperclips (Isolation Freestyle)" released on 24 April 2020[2]. Example had previously performed the song live on Instagram. The second single "Erin" was released 8 May 2020.[3] The album's third single "Oscar" was released on 5 June 2020.

On 21 May 2020, a limited release of physical copies of the album were made available to pre-order, which sold out the same day.

Example announced that album was complete and revealed the track listing on 26 May 2020.[4]
