Sierra Leone have only competed internationally at Under-19 level for the last couple of years but have already been very successful, qualifying in 2009 for the 2009 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.[1] Unfortunately, due to visa reasons, Sierra Leone were unable to make it to Canada for the event and so missed out on the chance to qualify for the World Cup.[2] They are also in a minority of affiliate cricket nations who field an Under-19 side.

Most recently, Sierra Leone participated in the 2010 ICC Africa Under-19 Championships.

At the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup qualification Africa Division 1, Sierra Leone defeated Kenya and Tanzania to place fourth overall.[3] Kenya was the winner of the previous tournament and qualified for the World Cup in 2018.
