History

It opened in September 1968. It was formed from Heywood Grammar School and the Bamford Road and Hornby Street secondary modern schools. It was originally to be the new site of the grammar school. The former site of the grammar school on Hind Hill Street became the Hind Hill Centre. It was demolished in 2006 and is now the Phoenix Centre.

Building Schools for the Future

Siddal Moor has allocated money for the refurbishment and rebuild. The project includes a new building at the front for teaching and administration with the rest of the school being refurbished. The project was scheduled to be finished for April 2011.

Battle Of The Performing Houses

Battle Of The Performing Houses is a yearly competition which raises money for charity that usually occurs in March of each year. The competition is surrounded around the four houses (Lewis, Moore, Redgrave & Thompson). There are auditions for places in the final as well as many rehearsals and dress rehearsals. This year (2016) there were three winners for the three categories - "Solo", Duo" and "Alternative" the winners were (as of the categories) - Natalia Jacques (Solo) who sang "Gravity", Hermoine Ditchfield & Rebecca Freeman (Duo) (dancers) & Max Wood (Alternative) (R&B / Hip-Hop Dancer)
