Shameless (season 10)

The tenth season of Shameless, an American comedy-drama television series based on the British series of the same name by Paul Abbott, was announced on January 31, 2019, two days after the premiere of season 9's ninth episode. The season premiered on November 10, 2019.

Season chronology

It is the first season not to star original cast member Emmy Rossum. Cameron Monaghan, who previously announced his departure from the series in season 9, returned as a series regular. Noel Fisher also rejoined the cast as a series regular alongside William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, and Christian Isaiah.[1] Kate Miner has been promoted to series regular after her recurring role in season 9.

When Debbie cuts off the family spending budget, Frank discovers Debbie in a merchandise scam scheme as he sells off product witheld; Debbie is angered and then involves herself in a worker's union while Frank then discovers Mikey diagnosed with a kidney disease. Lip continues to try to improve himself as a parent, as he even visits Tami who is out of the intensive care unit. Ian is informed of a parole hearing but he contemplates on not leaving Mickey behind in prison. Liam bonds with Mavar, a nearby neighbor who Frank and Monica robbed from. Carl bonds with a co-worker Anne Gonzalez, at his new job and rejects flirtatious advances from the manager. Kev holds a Tinder date meeting. Frank throws a party at the Gallagher house for robbing Debbie.

Debbie continues to take part in a worker's union at her welding job. When bumping into a old classmate, she tries to get child support for Frannie from Derek, but only to find out from his wife that he enlisted in the army and was killed in action. Frank and Mikey continue their misadventures, but when Mikey realizes he is falling ill more, he abruptly ends his friendship with Frank as he suggests that he would get help going to prison. Lip attends parenting classes, as he bonds with an instructor. Liam continues his bonding with Mavar, but he realizes both are from different backgrounds and end their friendship. Kev attempts to bargain trade while V bonds with a Tinder date. Carl attempts to get closer to Anne by helping out an immigrant family. A reunion at a party at the Gallagher house sees the returns of Kelly and Tami who returned from the hospital.

Ian is released from prison, as he is given a job as a E.M.T again. Tami is shown having difficulty in taking care of Freddie leaving Lip in concern. Randy, the ex-husband of Ingrid attempts to leave Frank with two infant children from Ingrid, however he reveals that the embryos used to conceive the children are from Carl. Debbie hires a lawyer in order to gain Derek's military benefits. Carl is conflicted between Kelly and coworker Anne. V starts to sell illegal pharmaceuticals and Kev discovers he was likely molested as a child. Liam enters a school basketball team.

Frank and Liam work together to sell one of Carl’s babies to potential parents but Frank has second thoughts. Unfortunately, the baby is taken from them anyway. Mickey attempts to escape prison but is caught. However he is released early anyway, due to his work as an informant. Ian kissing the trouble with his parole officer but find the silver lining is reunion with Mickey. Carl and Anne’s partnership turns to more than just business.

Debbie continues messing around with her girlfriend's daughter, only to back out. However, this leads to Debbie being blackmailed into following her demands. Carl gets a new job as a garbageman and has an interesting first day. Liam faces trouble in school if he doesn't locate his father. Frank, having been framed, is facing thirty years in prison, but gets a sympathetic judge who he manipulates into making him seem like a victim and she sentences Frank to rehab instead. Tami's parents offer to give Lip and Tami her grandmother's house in Milwaukee. While initially reluctant, after seeing the house, Lip gets around to it and announces the move to the rest of the family. Ian struggles with Mickey having a new boyfriend, Byron and attempts to find a date for a show Byron invited them to. After overhearing Byron badmouthing all of the qualities about Mickey that he loves, Ian beats Byron up and proposes to Mickey who accepts.

V gets suspicious when Kevin starts hiding away money; Kevin later reveals that it was for an engagement ring and he and V officially get engaged. Angry, Tami leaves Lip and takes Freddie with her. Lip briefly relapses as a result, but realizes his mistake and attends AA with Brad; Tami later shows up to help Lip renovate their new home, having changed her mind. After getting kicked out by her mom, Julia moves in with a reluctant Debbie and forms an attraction to Carl; Julia's mother later calls the cops on Debbie as a result. As Ian and Mickey's wedding approaches, Terry does his best to ruin it, burning down their wedding venue. Their friends and family come together to hold the wedding at a polka hall run by an old flame of Frank's; though Terry tries to intervene, Ian's Gay Jesus followers prevent him from entering. Ian and Mickey are married, but Terry later shoots up their honeymoon suite in a drive-by, presumably still angry at their marriage though neither are hurt.

Casting

On January 2019, Cameron Monaghan, who previously departed the series in season 9, announced that he would be returning for the tenth season.[1] In April 2019, it was announced that Noel Fisher will also return alongside Monaghan for the tenth season, his first time as a series regular since season 5.[14]
