Shalmalee Desai

Shalmalee Desai (born March 17, 1989) is an Indian television writer and an actress, mostly known for the role of Sojal from Hindi soap opera Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir.[1] She was the winner of UTV Stars' reality show Lux The Chosen One in 2012.[2]

Early life and Career

Born and brought up in Mumbai, Shalmalee worked with television channel Zee Marathi as a management trainee after completing an M.B.A from Welingkar College in 2011.[2]

Shalmalee is a trained Kathak dancer and has learned Kathak for 15 years. She is also a golf player.[3]

After winning "Lux The Chosen One" reality show in 2012, she became the official face of UTV Stars channel for the year 2013[2] In 2013, Desai secured her first television role in the soap opera Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir. After completing a screenwriting course at Whistling Woods International Institute, she made her writing debut with popular television drama series Thapki Pyar Ki in 2016.[4]

Personal life

In the year 2015, Desai married her Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir co-star Avinash Sachdev.[5][6] However, the couple divorced in 2017.[7]
