Biography
Michael started Muay Thai at the age of 7 at Lumpinee Gym in Cyprus. In 2012, he went to Thailand for the first time as he took part in the WMF World Championship and fell in love with the country and its atmosphere.[1]
In 2017, right after finishing high school Michael made the permanent move to Thailand to live and train at the Petchyindee Academy alongside champions like Petchdam Petchyindee Academy and Phetmorakot Petchyindee Academy.
In September 2018 Michael signed a contract with the ONE Championship organization.[2] He made his debut on May 10, 2019 against the veteran Singtongnoi Por Telakun and won by decision.[3]
For his second fight in ONE Championship Michael faced Lerdsila Chumpairtour, he lost by injury in round two when he was thrown to the ground and dislocated his elbow.
Michael returned to action on December 27 at Lumpinee Stadium when he defeated Dennanpho Sor Thanyaluk via fourth-round TKO for the vacant WBC Lightweight Muay Thai world title.[4] He became the first Cypriot to win a WBC world title.[5]
His return to ONE was confirmed against Japan's Taiki Naito at ONE: Warrior's Code on February 7, 2020 in Jakarta, Indonesia.[6]
