History

The league was formed around 1967, so children from Catholic primary schools could play footy against each other without it interfering with Sunday church.[3]

The club was formerly called the EPSFL, standing for the Eastern Primary Schools Football League. They changed their name due to recognition that clubs were not of a Catholic demographic.[4]

The league was made up of 6 teams, but was reduced to 5 in 2013 when the Glendal Saints left the competition.[5] In 2016, the Mitcham Eagles failed to field an Under 12s team, reducing the under 12s divison to four total teams. However, the next year, they fielded a team of over 18 players. Further shrinking the league, in 2017 the Bayswater Blues folded. There are plans to reactivate the club.

Coaches from both divisons of the Ringwood Jets Football Club and Emmaus Animals Football Club took part in the Big Freeze fundraiser to fight MND, where they were drenched in buckets of cold water by some of the players. Ringwood Jets president Matt Slattery reported the event as "a resounding success with fantastic support from those who were frozen.” Over $300 was raised.[9]
