Sathya (TV series)

Sathya is a brave and tomboyish girl, who enjoys her life as it comes. She lives with her mother, grandmother and her money-minded elder sister Divya. Sathya owns her beloved late father's mechanic shed, from whom she also inherited her tomboyish nature and hangs around with her male friends. Under unforeseen circumstances, she bumps across Prabhu, a rich man who often falls victim to her antics. Sathya is in love with Prabhu, who only thinks of her as a best friend but lies about being in love with her to not hurt her feelings. Because Sathya is still recovering from a head injury, Prabhu leads her on and does not tell her the truth to protect her. However, he does want to tell her that he is already engaged to someone else and that girl is Sathya’s own sister, Divya. He things become complicated as the wedding date inches closer and Prabhu faces the pressure of telling Sathya the truth. Prabhu decides to tell Sathya the truth about his feelings but faces obstacles all the time. After friend-zoning her for over a year, Prabhu confesses the truth to her. Sathya finds out that it is actually her own sister, Divya, who is going to marry Prabhu. Of course, he is still not aware of the fact that Divya is Sathya’s sister even after he spots Sathya’s father’s photo in the house. Sathya is heartbroken to know that the love of her life is going to marry her own sister. To top it all, she has promised Prabhu that she will be with him until he is married. Sathya is also unaware of her sister’s doings and how she has been deceiving Prabhu. Divya is unaware of that. She is only marrying Prabhu for his money. Divya who dumps her ex-boyfriend for him on learning of his riches. On marriage day things take a tumultuous turn when Divya’s ex-boyfriend abducts her and plants a note, stating that she has run off on her own. The letter is discovered the next day when Prabhu is sitting at the mandapam. Guruji declares that his reading of the jadhagam is not wrong. Then Divya’s grandmother confesses that the jadhagam they gave belonged to her younger sister. Everyone is shocked to know that Divya has a younger sister and a bigger shock is that she is Sathya! The elders compel Sathya and Prabhu to get married instead. Prabhu initially resists, saying that he does not see Sathya that way. But he caves in when his dad gets emotional. Sathya and Prabhu tie the knot. To save the family’s reputation and pacify his father, Prabhu has no choice but to marry Sathya instead. Prabhu and Sathya get married. During the wedding rituals, Anita insults Sathya’s family. Janaki makes Sathya promise her that she will never think about Divya. Later, Sashi doubts that Sathya’s friends may have plotted to get Sathya married to Prabhu.Sathya bids teary goodbye to her family. Prabhu's mother feels that her son's dreams have been shattered. She refuses to welcome Sathya home. Prabhu's father explains the importance of certain rituals to Sathya. Sathya's behaviour leaves Prabhu's family in shock. As Sathya looks worried, her friends cheer her and advise her to be a friend to Prabhu. Sashi and Prabhu’s brother make arrangements for Prabhu’s nuptial night. Meanwhile, Anita mocks Sathya and the latter gives her a befitting reply. Sathya warns Anitha. A livid Prabhu lashes out at Sathya. She tries to explain herself, but he refuses to listen. Sathya and Prabhu fall asleep and Prabhu dreams of Sathya in a traditional attire waking him up early morning. He is shocked when realisation strikes him. Sathya, everyone in the family mocks Prabhu as he walks around the house with vermillion on his face. Before going to the temple, Prabhu requests his mother and Anita to help Sathya drape a saree, but they refuse do so. A helpless Prabhu helps Sathya drape a saree. Prabhu gets irritated with Sathya’s antics. Prabhu’s father seconds Sathya, when she insists on eating breakfast before going to the temple. When Sathya and Prabhu reach the temple, a few beggars welcome them, but Anita disapproves of this. Prabhu and his family meet the swami who had predicted Sathya and Prabhu’s marriage. Sathya panics as her ‘pongal’ turns out to be a disaster. But to everyone’s surprise, a bird relishes on the ‘pongal’ made by Sathya. Later, during a ritual at home, once again it is proven that Sathya and Prabhu are meant to be together. Prabhu puts a curtain in between the bed. Later, Prabhu’s Professor is shocked to hear Sathya speak in the local Tamil dialect. When the Professor’s car breaks down, he learns that Sathya is a mechanic. The Professor mocks Prabhu, leaving the latter embarrassed. As an upset Sathya decides to skip her dinner, Prabhu cheers her up. Anita and her husband believe that Prabhu is not happy with the marriage. Anita tells Prabhu’s father about it, but Prabhu denies Anita’s claims and assures his father that he is happy. Prabhu’s employees welcome him to the office and Sathya dances for him. Later, Sathya and Prabhu dance together. Sathya storms out of the office as Prabhu scolds her. When Sathya is about to leave in an autorickshaw, Prabhu stops her and takes her home in his car. Sashi tells Anita and her husband that Prabhu scolded Sathya at the office. But Prabhu reprimands him for doing so. Later, Sathya takes care of Prabhu’s father. Prabhu argues with Sathya for changing her clothes in front of him. He later panics on seeing a cockroach. Prabhu’s brother stops Sashi from disturbing Prabhu and Sathya. Prabhu walks out of the room looking for a cockroach. Sathya mocks Prabhu as he has vermillion on his nose. The next morning, Prabhu’s brother teases him about the events that happened the previous night. Sathya’s family visits her and decides to take her home for a ritual. Anita adds chilli powder to the juices served to them. Sathya learns about this and decides to teach them a lesson. Later, Sathya is happy as Prabhu agrees to go with her to Janaki’s house. Prabhu asks Sathya to select clothes for him. Sathya feels happy. Anitha mocks Sathya's mother. Sathya and Prabhu get ready to leave for Sathya's house. Anitha gets upset about the arrangements at Sathya's colony. The people at the colony celebrate Sathya's arrival. Anitha warns Sathya's mother ato make the colony people stop the celebrations. Prabhu's father feels proud of Sathya. Meanwhile, people from the colony come to meet Prabhu. They make Sathya and Prabhu play couple games. Sathya lets Prabhu win at the couple games. Meanwhile, Anita finds Sathya's friends unappealing and gross. Prabhu feels suffocated. Sathya gives Prabhu a 'lungi' to wear. Prabhu struggles to wear the 'lungi'. Anitha's husband orders food from outside. Anitha refuses to have food from Sathya's house. Prabhu's father criticises Anitha. Sathya threatens Anitha. Later, Sathya's uncle visits the newlyweds. He gifts Sathya a necklace and asks Prabhu to take good care of Sathya.Prabhu spots Janaki taking money from a stranger. Sathya forces Prabhu to have dessert. Prabhu gives Janaki some money and asks her to return the borrowed money. Prabhu's kindness leaves Janaki teary-eyed. Sathya and Prabhu are left alone at home.Sathya and Prabhu watch TV. Sathya makes Prabhu uncomfortable by playing romantic songs. Later, they watch a horror movie together. Sathya scares Prabhu. A horrified Prabhu follows Sathya's instructions and sits with his legs up on the sofa. A scared Prabhu forces Sathya to sleep with him. Sathya decides to trouble him more. Latha calls Sathya and asks her for help, but Prabhu stops Sathya from stepping out at midnight. Later, she puts him to sleep and steps out to save Latha's daughter. Sathya saves a girl from being eve-teased and teaches a bunch of goons a lesson by tying them up to a tree. She tricks Prabhu into misleading Janaki and lying that she went out with her husband's permission. Sathya explains how she sneaked out of the room. Thereafter, Sathya's cousin Kumar scares Prabhu. Later, he takes Prabhu out for a massage.Prabhu is surprised after two men exchanging blows on the road come to a standstill on seeing him. How Sathya deals with the everyday turmoils and the chemistry between her and Prabhu accelerate forms the rest of the story.
