Salt, Uttarakhand

Salt or Sult (Hindi: सल्ट) is a block in Almora district, Uttarakhand, India.[1][2] It is also known as Kumaun Ki Bardoli, a name given to it by Mahatma Gandhi when he visited Almora in 1929. Khumar is a village located in Salt which has a Martyr Monument.

Jagdai Kolin Of Sult

Jagdai Kolin was a Koli girl of Sandna Village of Sult Block And married in a family of Salt Town. Nowadays, she is remembered by people such as 'Guardian Of Garhwal' because of her courage against Gurkha Army of Nepal Kingdom. In 1804, The Rana Bahadur Shah of Nepal sent his army to annex the Garhwal and Kumaon in Nepal Kingdom. But when Gurkh Army arrived in Sult, She opposed the army. She saved the life of thousands of Garhwali peoples by making a fast sound that 'Gurkha Army Has Arrived, Gorkha Army Has Arrived' and peoples ran away. But Gorkha Army captured the Jagdai Kolin and injured her. But Jagdai Kolin continuesly making a firecy sound so Gorkha soldiers cutoff the boobs, nose and ears and burn him in a cottage.
