Ryan James (soccer)

Ryan Lee James (born April 21, 1994) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays for USL Championship club Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC as a defender.

Career

College and amateur

James played four years of college soccer at Bowling Green University between 2012 and 2015.[1] In 2012, he played with TFC Academy in the Canadian Soccer League.[2]

Professional

Rochester Rhinos

James was drafted in the third round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft (52nd overall) by Sporting Kansas City.[3] However, he didn't sign with Kansas City, instead joining United Soccer League side Rochester Rhinos in March 2016.[4] In December 2016, Rochester announced that James would return for the 2017 season.[5] James would play two seasons with Rochester, before the club announced they would not play in the 2018 USL season.[6]

Nashville SC

James was signed by Nashville SC in the USL on December 14, 2017.[7] On November 14, 2018, the club announced that they had not re-signed James for the 2019 season.[8]

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC

In November 2018, James was signed by Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC for the 2019 season, with an option for 2020.[9]

International career

James participated in two camps of Canada U-17 team in 2010.

He is also eligible to play for Jamaica as his father was born in Clarendon.[10]
