Ruthin Town Hall

Ruthin Town Hall (Welsh: Neuadd y Dref, Rhuthun) is a municipal facility in Market Street, Ruthin, Denbighshire. It is a Grade II listed building.[1]

History

The building was commission to replace an earlier town hall on St Peter's Square.[1] The new facility, which was designed by J W Poundley and D Walker in the High Victorian Gothic style, was completed in 1865.[1] The west end of the building accommodated the fire brigade until it moved to Park Road in February 1971.[2] The town hall was the headquarters for Ruthin Rural Sanitary District until 1894, of Ruthin Rural District Council until 1974[3] and of Ruthin Town Council thereafter.[4]
