Regine Kahmann

Regine Kahmann ForMemRS (born 1948) is a German microbiologist.[1][2] She is an Emeritus Scientific Member of the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, and in 2020 was appointed as a Foreign Member of the Royal Society.[3]

She studied microbiology at the University of Göttingen and has a doctorate from the Free University of Berlin. She was a postdoc and junior staff member at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory before joining the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in 1982.[1]

She was appointed Professor of Genetics at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 1992, and at the University of Marburg from 2001 to 2019.[1]

One of her main research interests is molecular phytopathology with a focus on Ustilago maydis.[4]
